Interview with Phenomy, Melodic Thrash Metal Band from Lebanon

Phenomy is Melodic Thrash Metal Band from Lebanon. They’re Kevin Ghanem - Bass, Rudy Bejjani - Drums, Loïc El Haddad - Guitars (lead), Dany Arfan - Guitars (rhythm), and Sam Felfly - Vocals. phenomy gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Phenomy?
Phenomy is a melodic thrash metal band, founded by Loïc El Haddad (Lead Guitarist) and Rudy Bejjani (Drummer). Our music is based on Thrash metal riffing but we also like to add our own touch with Breakdowns and melodies. We have just recorded our debut album "Once And For All".

What are lyrical themes of Phenomy?
Our lyrics mainly deal with Social corruption, freedom and revolution, but we also like to talk about darker stuff. We did that on "Once And For All" with the song electrified that talks about the electric chair, The Haunting, about nightmares and Sealing Fate about the grim reaper, Death.

What are your influences?
The band members have different musical tastes and that makes our music versatile but we are mainly influenced by bands like Metallica, Pantera, Testament, Sanctity etc..

Who are Your Favorite Lebanese Metal Band?
We love and respect Lebanese Rock and Metal bands, we have too many talented musicians and bands but if we have to pick a band that really influenced us, it would be Element 26, they were a groove metal band that disbanded years ago.

How did you choose the cover artwork?
The cover art really represents what this album is all about, like Unleash the beast you can see the man/beast Unleashing himself and setting himself free from the roots that were holding him underground and that it is time to change and come back to life Once and for all. And it was well designed by the great Ali Samhoun.

How were the songs written?
Loïc and Rudy have been playing together for 8 years, they started playing Metallica and Pantera covers, few years later they started playing their own stuff. Loïc usually comes up with a riff and the song will be built around that. Later on, friends started to hear the music they were making and convinced them to form a band, all they wanted to do is to play music in their basement before that, and that's how they started searching for members. The line up changed many times before settling to the final line up with Sam on vocals, Dany on Guitar and Kevin on Bass. The arrival of the new members, affected the songs already written and they were rearranged before being recorded as they are in the album.

How did the recording process go?
The recording process was the best experience we had so far, even though it took a lot of time to get the album done. We recorded the album at Boombox studios with mixing engineer Jad Kas,while the studio was just being built. So recording and following the process of building the studio was very interesting and it taught us a lot. It also affected the way we write music and produce things now.

What are your future plan?
We still have a lot of songs written in our catalog and we are very excited to release them soon. But for now we are looking forward to tour and promote OAFA as much as we can. we have a lot of exciting projects for that matter so stay tuned with our social media sites for all the updates.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
Well we are interested to play in any country really, we love to perform our music and share it with the world, either if it's in Europe, America or Asia, we would be excited to play in any country and take any chance that is given to us.

What bands would you like to play alongside?
So many bands really, we would love to play with Metallica, Testament, Black Label Society, Lamb Of God, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Eluveitie, Machine Head, it's an endless list... so many idols. we are ready to take any chance that is given to us and make the best out of it.

Any last words?
We would like to thank BDP Metal for their time and we would like to stay in touch with you guys, and for our friends and Fans, There's a lot coming from Phenomy soon so stay tuned.
