Interview with Lowcaster, Stoner Metal Band from California

Lowcaster is Stoner Metal Band from San Fransisco, California. Marc gave us some information. Check it out.

Tell us about Lowcaster?
We are a four piece: Blaine, Dean, Jason, and myself (Marc).  Lowcaster is a San Francisco Bay Area metal band combining elements from all ends of the spectrum. You can call us Khyber Metal or Astral Grunge hahaha!

What are lyrical themes of Lowcaster?
They vary... there's politcal topics, war, as well as paranormal and spiritual themes.  The concept of a voyage in a holographic universe, or traversing one's own holographic mind pop up here and there... it's all heavily steeped in metaphors

What are your influences?
We all come from a wide array of musical backgrounds that aren't necessarily heavy or rock even. We draw upon all of this to create a sound that's not only relatable to metal enthusiasts, but also is uniquely our own. Of course, we give a nod to some of the great metal bands of our youth, but we are wary of sounding like a cliche or a lesser version of a seminal act.

How did you choose the cover artwork for "The Vapor Sea"?
The decrepit tree-wizard imagery was something we had been working with for a while. It was a concept I had been thinking of. Carolina Porras took it to another level our T-shirt design. Henry Lewis did the art work for the record. He did an amazing job by taking that concept/imagery a step even further and tied it to the theme of the album.

How were the songs written?
A couple songs were written individually.  But for most, I would come up with a riff and we would collaboratively build a song around that. Once the music is pretty much written and has some structure, Jason and I will write vocal melodies and lyrics.

How did the recording process go?
Slowly hahaha! We recorded and mixed everything ourselves in our rehearsal space. It was really challenging to stay objective with it. Not sure if we will do it that way again next time around, but it was definitely a learning experience regardless!

What are your future plans?
Play more shows to support the record. Branch out of the Bay Area. Write more tunes.

Are there any countries you’re interested in touring or performing in? Why?
Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia..festival shows in Europe look killer and fans of heavy music in Asia and Australia seem pumped!

What bands would you like to play alongside?
I think we could fit well on a bill with Elder, Pallbearer, Mutoid Man, or Helms Alee.

Any last words?
Thanks for your interest and support!
