Monolith Biography:

Founded in 2008 as an outlet to write and create progressive and experimental music, the current incarnation of the band began in the Spring of 2011. Having had demos and song ideas laying around from previous incarnations of the project, Kyle Ludovice contacted Jason Schultz, Former-Bassist Anthony Cirelli, and Drummer/Percussionist Marshawn Fondren in an effort to solidify a lineup, play live shows, and put together a demo. Over the next year, the quartet would write and record the material that would make up the band's first album. "Divisions", released instrumentally, was a recording of a band just beginning to really gel and find their sound. Calling upon the grit and heaviness of modern metal, while simultaneously showing a reverence for the regal, forward thinking progressive sounds of the 1970s and beyond, the album helped the young musicians find their musical footing. In early 2013, the band parted ways with original bassist Anthony Cirelli, and brought in Ben Rose on bass duties. Still playing as an instrumental quartet, 2013 would see the band embark on a series of live performances that would take them from Chicago and the Suburbs to Michigan, culminating in playing the Sumerian Records Stage at the Chicago date of Mayhem Fest. Invigorated by these developments, they would begin work on an ambitious double album, while continuing to search for a vocalist. That search ended in early 2014, when Jake Quintanilla joined the group. Fusing a rock solid command of modern metal styles, with the versatility and dynamics of choir vocals and an energy that was immediately felt by the other members, the current lineup of the band was born. From 2014 on, the band has striven to record the album of their dreams. One that seeks to take the listener on a journey, and strives to be different and truly progressive. That project is "The Mind's Horizon", and part one of this massive undertaking is nearing release in early 2016. The band hopes you'll come along for the ride!
